Hancock Bryggerierne
I 1876 startede A.P. Lorentzen med en lille hjemmeproduktion af hvidtøl. I 1882 manglede han plads og udvidede ved køb af nabogrunden. I 1889 forpagtede Christian Daugaard bryggeriet og overtog det efter en tvangsauktion i 1892. I 1895 købte Christian Christiansen bryggeriet og udvidede. Han delte virksomheden i to grene: Et ølbryggeri, som han gav navnet Thordal efter sin hustru, og en mineralvandsfabrik, han kaldte Krystal. I 1933 overtog Erling Strange Nielsen Thordal efter sin far. Det første bryg kom i handlen i 1935. To år efter udvidede han sortimentet med en kraftigere øl, Münchner øl, som blev forløberen for den nuværende Old Gambrinus. I 1954 flyttede tapperiet udenfor byen og senere fulgte bryghuset og lageret med. Da eksportsælgeren var engelsk gift, lå løsningen lige for: Hustruens pigenavn var Hancock, og dermed havde man opså et logo. I 1971 blev bryggeriet omdannet til et aktieselskab. I 1985 overtog Fritz E. Strange Nielsen Hancock. Han er uddannet på bryggerskolen Weihenstepaner, nord for München og har derfor et indgående kendskab til, hvordan man fortsat laver øl og vand af høj kvalitet. Se mere på hancock.dk
